Our guests come from all walks of life. At Elan Recovery + Wellness, we treat people by keeping them in age-specific groupings for the best possible outcomes. We treat young adults, parents, and grandparents. We treat college students, professionals, and stay-at-home moms. We treat people who are still figuring out their path in life, and people who have a full plate of responsibilities— a job, a family, a home. All in all, our guests have only two things in common:

  1. They have addictions that have stolen their potential to live their best lives.
  2. They are heroes.

Our guests are heroes in the true sense of the word. They’ve exhibited the courage to venture into the frightening, challenging world of addiction treatment. They’ve expressed the willingness to put their addictions in the rear-view mirror, knowing that at times it might be profoundly uncomfortable. They’ve come forward and said, “I value my life and will do whatever it takes to save it.”

A Treatment Plan All About You

At Elan Recovery + Wellness, we’ve treated clients who know that they’ve lost control of their drinking, even if they have never taken illegal drugs. We’ve treated clients who started smoking marijuana in high school and went on to become dependent on more potent, more dangerous drugs. We’ve treated clients who were once addicted to the most potent opioid drug ever manufactured.

And, just like no two clients are ever the same, no two types of treatment are ever the same. We specialize in highly individualized, highly personalized, highly customized drug and alcohol addiction treatment because that is the single best way to achieve lasting recovery. When you’re here at Elan Recovery + Wellness, we treat more than your addiction. We treat YOU.

We Want You to Understand Your Worth

Sometimes, it takes a while for people in recovery to get to a place where they’re able to understand, accept, and value themselves. Think about what the world says to people who struggle with addiction:

  • “Just say no.”
  • “Get it together.”
  • “You’re hopeless.”
  • “You’re worthless.”
  • “What’s wrong with you?”
  • “Where’s your willpower?”
  • “Just quit. It isn’t that hard.”

But recovery is that hard. Remember, addiction changes the brain, and addicts’ cravings can rule their world. Unless you’ve experienced it for yourself, there’s no way to fully understand how powerful those cravings can be. They’re so powerful that they make people put their drugs before everything else; their work, their education, even the wellbeing and safety of their children.

We Treat Families

Addiction hurts so many, and during treatment, our guests come to realize just how deeply their addiction hurts the people around them.

At Elan Recovery + Wellness, we are proud to be pioneers of family programs and therapy. In fact, once a month, family members gather for our Family Weekends, which offer process-based counseling programs.

The goal is to address and put a stop to the kinds of family dysfunction that enable and support addictive behaviors. We do more than educate families about what addiction is like for their loved ones. At Elan, all the family members receive intensive treatment to help heal and restore their relationships.

We Treat Dual Diagnoses

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), about one-quarter of all people with a severe mental health condition also suffer from a drug or alcohol addiction. At Elan Recovery + Wellness, we understand that lasting sobriety cannot happen without treating the underlying mental and emotional issues that often accompany addiction. These typically include but are not limited to depression, anxiety, bipolar, post-traumatic stress disorder, and ADHD.

Dual diagnosis treatment at Elan Recovery + Wellness includes:

  • Progress tracking
  • A complete evaluation by a psychiatrist
  • Weekly visits with our staff psychiatrist
  • Adaptive testing, which assesses your mental health daily
  • As-needed psychotropic medication to rebalance your brain chemistry
  • Management of medications by our advanced psychiatric nurse practitioner
  • Outcome tracking, which follows your success after your discharge from our Elan recovery program

At Elan Recovery + Wellness, we are on the cutting-edge of innovative, empirically validated approaches that augment and support treatment for addiction.

We Treat Every Generation

Unlike most addiction treatment centers, Elan has had guests of every age. Our guests range anywhere from their late teens to their 70s! However, that doesn’t mean that they’re always in the same room together— or receiving the same types of treatment for their addictions.

Clinically, it’s better for people to go through drug or alcohol rehabilitation surrounded by people of their own age and stage. There are many practical reasons for this:

  • Younger adults often need more life coaching and practical skills to maintain their new sober lifestyle.
  • More mature adults tend to have different responsibilities and concerns, like spouses, children, jobs, homes, so finding healthy ways to balance those responsibilities is a critical part of recovery.
  • When grouped together, older adults in recovery tend to adopt caretaker roles for younger guests; while our community gains strength from mutual support, it is imperative that each of our guests focuses on his or her own recovery.
  • Lifelong, life-saving friendships form during treatment, especially when people have a lot in common; peers of similar ages tend to support and encourage one another even after completing their Elan recovery programs.

For these and many other reasons, we believe it’s necessary to offer age-specific groupings whenever possible. Age-specific types of treatment generally lead to the best outcomes for clients of all generations.
